Expertise shapes the work AI does
Explanation of a proposed mechanismDomain expertise is the practical knowledge that helps someone recognize what matters, set useful constraints and judge whether a result will work.
Knowing the work means recognizing what a generic instruction leaves out. A developer knows which unanswered client question could undermine a build. A cabinetmaker knows which missing decision will delay materials and installation.
In the examples, that knowledge shapes requirements, exceptions, tests and the choice of outputs to keep. AI helps turn those decisions into plans, software and repeated actions. [§4.1]
The person's effort can move from producing every piece to directing and judging a much larger amount of work. A useful decision can improve many downstream outputs. A wrong assumption can spread through them too. [§4.6] [§4.8]
More typing or longer prompts are not the aim. The question is whether the guidance makes the result more useful, reliable or feasible.
